A Matter of Days Book

Hugh Ross (Author)

How long were the creation days of Genesis—hours or epochs? Does belief in an old earth equate to belief in evolution? Was there any kind of death before the Fall?

The length of the creation days in Genesis sparks a storm of controversy. At the core of the debate, where lightning strikes and thunder roars, lie key questions whose answers promise hope for resolution.

In A Matter of Days, author and astronomer Hugh Ross addresses these questions and explores how the creation-day controversy developed. History, theology, science, and Scripture reveal creation's big picture.

Human uniqueness confirmed | No Hard Steps to ETI? Podcast Epidode

Reasons to believe (Creator) & Hugh Ross (Host) & Fazale Rana (Host)

In this episode, biochemist Fuz Rana describes recent work from researchers at Rockefeller University. The researchers edited specific mouse genes to express the human version of the protein NOVA1, and they believe their research explains human language capability. Their findings add evidence for the exceptional nature of human beings and, consequently, the image of God.

Hugh discusses how four astrobiologists assert that intelligent life is the natural outcome of a hospitable environment. They note that the origin of life and every advance in Earth’s life occurred when physical and chemical conditions first permitted their appearance. Hence, they conclude that these …

A reassessment of the “hard-steps” model for the evolution of intelligent life

A reassessment of the “hard-steps” model for the evolution of intelligent life Publication

Science Advances (Publisher)
Publication highlighting the exceptionalism of human existence.
Abstract: According to the “hard-steps” model, the origin of humanity required “successful passage through a number of intermediate steps” (so-called “hard steps”) that were intrinsically improbable in the time available for biological evolution on Earth. This model similarly predicts that technological life analogous to human life on Earth is “exceedingly rare” in the Universe. Here, we critically reevaluate core assumptions of the hard-steps model through the lens of historical geobiology. Specifically, we propose an alternative model where there are no hard steps, and evolutionary singularities required for human origins can be explained via …
